Al Anderson, After Hours (Legacy)

Anderson made his reputation initially as the guitar player in NRBQ, but since leaving in 1993, he has had a successful second career as a Nashville songwriter. After Hours features Anderson the songwriter far more than Anderson the encyclopedia of blues and rockabilly licks, so ’Q fans beware. This is also him in late night mode, with the energy dialed down for the most part. The album suggests a lot of country songs start better than they end up, and “Another Place I Don’t Belong” says the ’Q in him isn’t dead.
