What’s in a Name?

“I want to thank everyone who supported deadboy & the Elephantmen, it was and will always be more than just a band; it’s in my DNA.”

On his MySpace page, Dax Riggs announced recently that deadboy & the Elephantmen was no more, and that on August 7, Fat Possum Records will release We Sing of Only Blood or Love, the first album recorded under his own name. The Houma native first gained notoriety as singer with Acid Bath, and last year deadboy & the Elephantmen received critical acclaim and reviews in the national music magazines for the dark folk of We Are Night Sky.

Fans can check out songs from the upcoming album on Riggs’ MySpace page. He recorded them with a number of members of the deadboy touring lineup but not, conspicuously, drummer Tessie Brunet, with whom Riggs recorded We Are Night Sky.
