Nomadic Sun, Nomadic Sun (The Shack)

With its overly honest lyrics and ambient sound, Nomadic Sun does stick out as one of New Orleans’ few “electronic” groups. But, while sometimes Nomadic Sun features live guest musicians at performances, there’s only one regular member, Kevin Burke, which makes Nomadic Sun a lot of impressive superimposing in the studio.

Nomadic Sun works if that’s what you’re looking for. Burke taps into his falsetto and pairs sequencers, laptops, and synthesizers with live piano, guitar, sitar, and djmebe, among others, allowing a relaxing yet running creation to emerge. The electric mixed with the “acoustic elements” give it an almost uncategorizable sound. If you do power yoga, Nomadic Sun works as an appropriate soundtrack for transitioning from upward to downward dog.
