Jan - I can't help but think about how we all went to the mayoral debate back when Nagin was first running, and how he said all the right things about supporting the music industry/scene here. And of course how we all supported him. We got one very good outcome - Scott Aiges' valiant efforts to improve the music biz environment, with Mo'Fest and other projects coming to mind. But more often the City's policies have seemed to run counter to promoting the very music and culture they claim to promote as being the essence of our city. Post-Katrina, it has been even worse. With Scott at Jazz & Heritage, we once again have some great small fests featuring local music of different genres. But the point of this is, let's look at the candidates' records and histories in terms of what they have done to support culture and the arts. Anyone can talk a good game, especially with hip advisors. Performance is a whole other kettle of fish.
