Krewe of O.A.K.’s 2011 Mid-Summer Mardi Gras Parade: Photos

Saturday night, August 27, the streets of the Riverbend looked more like Royal Street on Fat Tuesday, with hundreds of revelers in costumes ranging from the silly to the lewd to the beautiful following the Baby Boyz Brass Band and Pair-A-Dice Tumblers around the Carrollton neighborhood. The occasion was the Krewe of O.A.K.’s annual Mid-Summer Mardi Gras, celebrated at the end of every August because, well, who wants to wait a whole year to celebrate Carnival again? Joining the parade were a slew of marching and dance krewes, including the 610 Stompers, the Pussyfooters, the Sirens, the Organ Grinders, Skinz and Bonez, Roux La La, the Camel Toe Lady Steppers, the Bearded Oysters, Krewe of Chewbacchus, the Muff-A-Lottas, and the brand-new Cherry Bombs.

All photos from Mid-Summer Mardi Gras were taken by Kim Welsh.
