Coco Robicheaux Memorial Second Line and Musical Tribute

On a gray afternoon yesterday, hundreds of Coco Robicheaux’s fans, friends, and family turned out on Frenchmen Street for a large second line to celebrate the bright life of the bluesman, who passed November 25.

People started drifting towards the Apple Barrel, Robicheaux’s favorite haunt and the bar where he collapsed the night of his death, from all directions hours before the parade began. The second line made its way down Royal Street and through the French Quarter, led by Treme Brass Band members and many other musicians, before ending at House of Blues, where a musical tribute to Robicheaux was staged. Guests joined frequent Robicheaux band regulars Derek Huston, Jerry Embree, Dave Easley, Michael Sklar, Irene Sage, and Dorian Rush, as well as Robicheaux’s widow Danielle, for the send off.
