Oak Street Block Party Honoring Grammy Winners Rebirth Brass Band Tonight

Rebirth Brass Band at the Grammy Awards

Rebirth Brass Band has returned to New Orleans after Sunday’s Grammy Award win as the hometown hero. For the band’s regular Tuesday night Maple Leaf gig, Oak Street will be closed off in front of the bar. A block party in their honor will start at 8 p.m. Rebirth will also play free shows at the Howlin’ Wolf on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights after the parades end.

Rebirth alumni Kermit Ruffins and Kenneth Terry, along with the Baby Boyz Brass Band—who Terry mentors—were the first to welcome the Grammy winners back to New Orleans. They surprised the band by playing for them as they came off the plane Monday afternoon, complete with the luggage-carrying footwork only seen at Louis Armstrong Airport.
