Mardi Gras Day in the French Quarter: Photos (NSFW)

There are many small marching krewes, one of which is Kosmic Debris, with brass bands that parade through the French Quarter on Mardi Gras Day. Kosmic Debris begins their walk at the Blue Nile (Alan Langhoff, the group’s founder, was the owner of the Dream Palace, the first club in the Blue Nile’s present location) and work their way to the Mississippi River by Jackson Square, where remembrances are made for loved ones lost int he past year. Kosmic Debris is featured in this photo album, along with many costumed partiers in the French Quarter on Fat Tuesday, members of the Slow Danger Brass Band, and more.

All photos were taken by Kim Welsh. Not safe for work only because of one photo of bare breasts—just tell your boss it’s Mardi Gras.
