The Flaming Lips’ Guinness World Record-Breaking Concert: Photos

Thursday night, the Flaming Lips played a rare non-festival show in New Orleans at House of Blues. The concert was the last of eight shows, starting in Memphis, on a day-long mini tour that broke the Guinness World Record for most concerts played in a 24-hour period. The tour was in conjunction with MTV’s O Music Awards. Wayne Coyne and his band arrived in New Orleans around 5 p.m., parading down Decatur Street with the Stooges Brass Band on their way to House of Blues. They took the stage at 6 p.m. for an hour-and-a-half set that included their usual smorgasbord of confetti, balloons, dancers, lasers, giant hands, and an inflatable ball that Coyne entered and used to crowd-surf over the audience.
