Thankfully for New Orleans music fans, Hurricane Isaac’s winds didn’t kick up any sooner, as Irvin Mayfield and company were able to play their hearts out for 10 nights of the Love Sessions’ scheduled 12-night run. While the annual series’ final two shows featuring Dee Dee Bridgewater at the I Club were cut short, Grammy-winning trumpeter Mayfield’s seven-night standoff against fellow horn icon Kermit Ruffins yielded plenty of “oohs” and “ahhs.”
