2013 Creole Jazz Brunch and Tea to benefit local musicians April 11

The New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation (NOMAF) and the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic (NOMC) will hold their 2013 Creole Jazz Brunch on April 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Freret-Bultman Home at 1525 Louisiana Avenue, in the Garden District. The event will feature Lars Edegran & His Creole Jazz Quartet with Evan Christopher, Seva Vent, James Singleton and Barbara Shorts. Swedish-born pianist Edegran is a key member of the city’s traditional jazz community and will play Jazz Fest next month with his New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra.

The Creole Jazz Tea event will follow the brunch on April 11 at 4 p.m. and will feature more live local jazz.  NOMC is dedicated to keeping New Orleans’ performers alive in body, mind and spirit and provides comprehensive health care and mental health/social services. NOMAF evolved from the NOMC after Hurricane Katrina and promotes the life of New Orleans music and traditional music cultures with the Gig Fund and the Emergency Fund.

Creole Jazz Brunch tickets are available in advance online for $52 and $55 at the door. Tickets can also be purchased for $35 for groups of 12 or more. Tickets for the Creole Jazz Tea are $42.50 in advance, $50 at the door and $35 for groups of six or more.
