Exhibit Art and Raise Funds
for Mother’s Day with CANO

Mama Said Knock You Art!

No, LL Cool J is not coming to town, but some of the coolest, more creative kids in New Orleans are coming to the McKenna Musuem of African American Art this weekend for a few reasons; one is to honor their moms for Mother’s Day, and another is to showcase their latest art projects as part of a fundraiser for their multi-medium after-school arts program hosted by the Creative Alliance of New Orleans (CANO).

John McDonogh High School Students host Art Exhibit & Mother's Day Fundraiser with CANO on May 11 at McKenna Museum

CANO’s Creative Futures, in partnership with John McDonogh High School, connects students to career and educational opportunities in the creative fields. Talented aspiring visual artists from John McDonogh will showcase their original pieces at the McKenna Museum during Mothers’ Day Weekend. All art work will be available for sale, so buy momma the gift that keeps on giving… ART!

There is an abundance of creative talent coming out of New Orleans high schools. Creative Futures’ goal is to provide the city’s talented young artists with the experience, training, resources, and education they need to pursue a career as a creative professional.

John McDonogh students participating in the McKenna exhibit produced the pieces, will be installing their work, and are helping with marketing and public relations for the event. Live music will also be provided by McDonogh student musicians. Through these experiences, students receive training and gain a deeper understanding of the different components inherent with a career as a professional artist.

Come on by – bring your family and friends! The exhibit opening is free and open to the public.
