Mothership Foundation Holds “The Bayou Is Our Oyster” Fundraiser

Thursday night (November 14) at Pearl Wine Co. in the American Can building, the Mothership Foundation (producers of the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo) will host “The Bayou Is Our Oyster,” a fundraiser and auction to assist the foundation in its efforts to replace the Oak trees lost along Bayou St. John as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Trio Mollusc (Radiatiors keyboardist Ed Volker, percussionist Michael Skinkus and saxophonist Joe Cabral). Tickets, which include wine and food, are $50 for individuals, $75 for couples and available for purchase online.

In the days that follow the event, the Mothership Foundation will plant three large Oaks on the banks of Bayou St. John. Through the more that $30,000 raised by the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo and its partners, the Mothership Foundation has already planted five Oaks along the Mid-City bayou.

Marlin Miller, a wood carver who sculpted an oak tree live on the festival grounds at last year’s Bayou Boogaloo, will share his story and auction off pieces of his work at the event as well.

The Mothership Foundation’s “The Bayou Is Our Oyster” fundraiser begins at 7:00 p.m. and will last until 10:00 p.m. The Pearl Wine Co. is loacted at 3700 Orleans Ave. in storefront #1C inside the American Can Company building (map).
