Photos: 2013 Best of the Beat Awards Show and Concert

On Saturday, January 18, 2014, OffBeat held its annual Best of the Beat Awards show at Generations Hall. There, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews cleaned house, winning a record six Best of the Beat Awards including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (Say That to This) and Song of the Year (“Fire and Brimstone'”). Attendees were treated to a taste of Louisiana’s finest music and cuisine with performances from Jon Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen featuring Nigel Hall, Glen David Andrews, the Brass-A-Holics, Cheeky Blakk, Feufollet and Robin Barnes, as well as food from more than two dozen local restaurants. The grand finale featured a star-studded tribute to OffBeat’s 2013 Best of the Beat Lifetime Achievement in Music honoree Cyril Neville, which brought out scores of special guests including Art Neville, Allen Toussaint, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr., Papa Mali, Yadonna West, Charmaine Neville, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Big Chief Bo Dollis Jr. and many more.
