The Carnival tradition may have been born in Europe, but Mardi Gras was perfected in New Orleans. This year, both traditions will be combined for one night in the heart of Paris as four New Orleans musicians take over three clubs on the Rue de Lombards to bring authentic New Orleans jazz to Paris in a carnival celebration, New Orleans-style.

Local jazz musicians Brian Seeger, David Torkanowsky, Don Vappie, and Evan Christopher will lead French audiences on a musical journey to the roots of jazz on Mardi Gras day, Tuesday, March 4.
Torkanowsky will take the stage at the Duc des Lombards club along with Rick Margitza on saxophone to display “New Orleans’ new jazz scene.” Accompanying Seeger at his set at Baiser Sale will be Jean-Yves Jung on organ and Jeff Boudreaux on drums. Christopher and Vappie will be joined by Julien Brunetaud on piano and vocals for their set at Sunside.
The event was organized as part of the First World War Centennial, commemorating the devastating battles that took place across Europe in 1914.
