25th New Orleans International Piano Competition Returns July 20-27

The New Orleans International Piano Competition will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year at Loyola University’s Roussel Hall with a week of programs from Sunday, July 20, to Sunday, July 27.New Orleans International Piano Competition

Once again, the competition will provide many opportunities to discover the world’s finest piano talents, with 152 pianists coming over from 26 different countries.

Following an opening recital by Bulgarian pianist Viktor Valkov, winner of the 2012 New Orleans International Piano Competition, competition rounds and recitals will be held during the entire week.

This summer’s competition will also include the 33rd annual New Orleans Keyboard Festival and the 15th annual New Orleans Piano Institute. Offering a week of master classes, recitals and lectures, they both contribute to the quality of the event by bringing one educational component to it.

Local or visiting piano students participating will have the chance to take private piano lessons with members of distinguished faculties.

All events are hosted by the New Orleans Musical Arts Society, which provides opportunities for both students and music professionals to perform and develop their talent.

All master classes and workshops part of the Keyboard Festival and the Piano Institute will be free and open to the public. Tickets for the International Piano Competition rounds and recitals are between $15 and $30, with discounts available for students and seniors.
