Jon Batiste and Stay Human On The Colbert Report July 29

Virtuoso piano player Jon Batiste is having a string of good luck with his band Stay Human. Following recent performances at Bonnaroo, Bottlerock, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and having just wrapped up their international tour, the band will be featured on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report on Tuesday, July 29, at 10:30 p.m. for a very special version of their “Express Yourself.”

To add to this, the band will be part of TV series Front and Center’s third season. With a repertory ranging from original compositions to greatly revived pieces of traditional jazz, the band’s tunes will find a great platform of expression throughout the series, which aim is to deliver one different live music performance per episode. Their episode will premiere on WLAE on Saturday, August 16 at 8:00 p.m.

With Jon Batiste on piano and harmonica, Joe Saylor on the drums, tuba player Ibanda Ruhumbika and Eddie Barbash on alto saxophone, Stay Human’s take on music is innovative, fuelled as much by traditional jazz, soul, funk, pop and classical music.

With heart and talent, Jon Batiste and his bandmates excel at reviving traditional forms of music with contemporary ways of expression. They recently garnered nods from both audiences and critics with their debut album Social Music which title expresses well the kind of music the band does deliver, namely a blend of many genres and musical forms which provides a lot of space for dialogues and evolution live.

Following an intense festival and concerts calendar, the band will also soon hit the road to Newport Jazz Festival, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and the Monterrey Jazz Festival.
