How did you pick this place?
I know people who’ve been coming here from the Westbank for plate lunches for 30 years. ‘Don’t they have plate lunches on the Westbank?’ Of course they do. ‘But Frady’s is better.’
How long have you been coming here?
I’ve only been coming here for 20–25 years.
You tend to stick with the shrimp po-boy?
The truth of the matter is that I go for the plate lunches. Meatloaf, or tamales—that and a cold drink.
Seems like a good neighborhood hang.
The best thing about Frady’s is that as much as this neighborhood has changed in the last couple of decades, this place hasn’t changed a lick. What you’re getting is basically like if family that loved you was serving you a school lunch. It’s not vegetables from out of the garden, but it was prepared with love.
