Event director Sara Bradford talks about this year’s festivities.
We’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and this year more than 40 restaurants will be serving dishes as well as special cocktails with Abita Beer on tap, and of course great entertainment.
Scales and Ales is the only time of year when you can enjoy the Aquarium without strollers and kiddos around, with a drink in hand. Additions for this year include a VIP party aboard the Steamboat Natchez. Sponsors and patrons enjoy all-night access to the Steamboat where they will have exclusive cuisine and bar access as well as a great view of the outdoor stage.
Since 2010, the event has raised more than $600,000 for the Aquarium’s conservation and education programs, including
the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program. This year alone, Audubon has rehabilitated and released 26 endangered Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles [the rarest sea turtle, critically endangered] into the Gulf of Mexico.
Scales and Ales is an adult-only event on Friday, September 11 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The VIP Party for Sponsors and Patrons starts an hour early at 7 p.m. Tickets are $65 for Audubon members and $75 for non-members. Patron tickets are $125. Sponsor packages start at $500. Food and drinks are included in the ticket price.
Guests may visit AudubonInstitute.org or call (504) 861-5107 to purchase tickets.
