B.G., Chopper City in the Ghetto (Cash Money)

B.G.’s Chopper City in the Ghetto is Cash Money’s latest in their series of funny, sometimes brutal, and always explicit tales from the streets of Uptown New Orleans. Cash Money’s releases are like sequels to a successful movie.

On this, 18-year-old B.G.’s fifth solo album, all of the characters from the platinum certified 400 Degreez are back. There is Juvenile himself -the man of a thousand hooks. There is the wisecracking 15-year-old Lil’ Wayne and his partner Young Turk.

The Big Tymers drop in from time to time to discuss their riches. And, of course, there is the sinister- voiced B.G., the Baby Gangsta. While this aIbum doesn’t contain anything as instantly catchy as Juvenile -it as almost certainly hit-bound.

Cash Money has their formula and they’re sticking to it. The subject matter is quite simple -the guys take turns bragging about their women, cars, guns, and jewels. But they do it well-you’ll laugh, you’ll cringe, you’ll be entertained.

And as usual, Mannie Fresh’s beats are among the best in the rap industry. If you have the stomach for gangsta rap, B.G. and the rest of the Cash Money crew will do their level best to give you your $15 worth.
