Al Copeland Foundation’s 4th Chicken Jam toasts Fried Chicken Day

Did you know this Saturday is National Fried Chicken Day? I’m not clucking with you. Your Independence weekend just got better. Indulge and do good at the same damn time on this spectacular day at the 4th Annual Chicken Jam. Thrown by the Al Copeland Foundation, the Jam takes place from 2-7 p.m. at the UNO Lakefront Arena. 100% of the proceeds support the foundation, which to date has raised $1.9 million of funding in support of cancer research.

“We are so excited to welcome the community to this family-fun event because there is something for everyone, and most importantly, the opportunity to be a part of Big Al’s last wish to save lives and end cancer right here at home,” said Mike Martinez, Al Copeland Foundation Board Member.

The Chicken Jam will feature local vendors serving up fest staples from pizza and popcorn, to soft pretzels and cotton candy. The main act though, (obviously) is the notorious Spicy Herb Fried Chicken from Copeland’s, accompanied by its loyal sidekick red beans and rice, or mac and cheese and its number one flaky buttery partner, the biscuit. That made me thirsty. Non-alcoholic beverages, smoothies, frozen coffees, daiquiris, and wine are on hand to wash it all down. Mama needs a little more bass? Check out the specialty cocktails from Tito’s Vodka, and a Jam Brew from Port Orleans Brewing Company.

There won’t be a dull moment for the kids or adults at this Jam, no ma’am. Between bites get the wee ones faces painted, release some energy on inflatables, and get your next Instagram post at the photo booth. Enjoy live music from Bag of Donuts, Me & My Friends, and Superstar.
