Black Crowes spin-off The Magpie Salute announces New Orleans show

The Magpie Salute will head to the House of Blues New Orleans on Monday, October 23.

Founded in 2016, the group finds former Black Crowes members Rich Robinson, Marc Food and Sven Pipen teaming up with members of Robinson’s solo band. The 10-piece group performs tunes from The Black Crowes catalog, as well as originals and material from Robinson and Ford’s solo projects.

The Magpie Salute’s self-titled debut album is due out his Friday, June 9 via Eagle Rock Entertainment. Every track on the release except the single “Omission” (which you can hear below) was recorded live in front of an audience at Applehead Recording in Woodstock, NY. Robinson produced the album.

The Black Crowes officially called it quits in 2015, though the band had been on hiatus for over a year by that point. Singer Chris Robinson, who has publicly feuded with his brother Rich on numerous occasions, has devoted his time to the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, a psychedelic blues band he founded in 2011. The CRB will also head to New Orleans this fall when they play their fourth Crescent City show in under two years. That one will take place at the Civic Theatre on Sunday, September 17.

Tickets for The Magpie Salute’s show at the House of Blues New Orleans will go on sale this Friday, June 9.
