Blues Giant Buddy Guy Earns a Spot in ACL’s 2019 Hall of Fame

Austin City Limits Hall of Fame will welcome the unstoppable Buddy Guy, Louisiana native and world-known blues musician. Joining Buddy Guy in the induction will be singer and songwriting legends Lyle Lovett and Shawn Colvin. The inductees will be saluted at a star-studded ceremony on October 24, 2019. The ceremony will take place at ACL’s studio home, ACL Live at The Moody Theater, in downtown Austin, Texas.

Living legend and one of the last of his generation of blues musicians (and recent GRAMMY winner), Buddy Guy is undeniably a perfect addition to ACL’s Hall of Fame. The singer and guitarist is one of the most influential axemen of the twentieth century, impacting Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Keith Richards and more. Starting his career 50 years ago, Buddy Guy’s astonishing career highlights include the 2015 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, eight Grammy Awards, thirty-seven Blues Music Awards, twenty-three W.C. Handy Awards, the Kennedy Center Honor, Billboard Music Awards; Century Award, Presidential National Medal of Arts, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Established in 2014, the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame celebrates the legacy of legendary artists and key individuals who have played a vital part in the pioneering music series remarkable 45 years as a music institution. The group of music legends and collaborators honored each year since 2014 has featured a remarkably diverse selection. Artists such as Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Roy Orbison, Rosanne Cash,the Neville Brothers, and many more have been honored in years past. Last year’s fifth anniversary class featured the inductions of Ray Charles, Marcia Ball and Los Lobos.
