New Orleans-based circus artist LadyBEAST is co-producing "Marquee"

The Circus, Burlesque Theater & Drag Cabaret Come Together In “Marquee”

Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre will welcome a night of fabulous entertainment as “Vinsantos and LadyBEAST Present Marquee: A Night of Burlesque, Circus and Drag Cabaret” makes its way to the stage. The extravagant show will take place on April 25 with additional performances on later days.

Since the late 1800s, cabaret has held strong in the roots of New Orleans culture. New Orleans, with spirited traditions, has continued to build its cabaret and burlesque scenes while many other cities have experienced a slow decline. The Big Easy is now at the forefront of the new cabaret movement.

marquee“Marquee” celebrates the history of cabaret and the essence of the theatrical performances that inspired legends such as Julian Eltinge, Josephine Baker, Nita and Zita and more. The production’s focus features the 1890s and 1950s told through the lenses of dance, drag, burlesque and circus. ” “This heartwarming show gives a window into the history of New Orleans cabaret from the 1890s through the 1950s,” say producers.

Co-producer and Director of Movement and Choreography and performer, LadyBEAST, has a variety of incredible talents including producing and touring, nationally and locally, the production “Levity”. Joining these two will be performers Titibaby, Franky Canga, Sweet Tooth Simone, Cherry Bombshell and Madame Mystere.

“This is a full-blown theatre production which includes the best of New Orleans’ performers,” said LadyBEAST.
