Carnegie Hall Welcomes Student Trombonist Michael Mullins

Fifteen-year-old Mandeville student Michael Mullins was selected to perform at New York City’s Carnegie Hall this week as part of an exclusive International Honor Band program, currently ongoing.

The program showcases the most talented middle school musicians across the US, Canada, and specific international schools.

Mullins was nominated for the program by Gail Adams, his piano teacher of ten years. His audition landed him as first trombone of the eight trombones selected for the four day, rehearsal and performance program.

The young musician performed at Jazz Fest the past two years with Bonerama (his father, Mark Mullins, is one of three trombonists in the acclaimed brass powered funk-rock powerhouse) and at French Quarter Fest two years ago with guitarist Dave Ferrato.

Congratulations, Michael—and congrats to father Mark for raising another New Orleans musical progeny!
