Cha Wa’s “Saints Go Get ‘Em” brings Mardi Gras Indian culture to NFL

Cha Wa, the self-described “brass band-meets-Mardi Gras Indian outfit,” has released a new single titled “Saints Go Get ‘Em” to celebrate the beginning of football season.

The band, led by vocalist J’wan Boudreaux, appeared on the cover of OffBeat in May and recently released an album called Spyboy. Cha Wa’s unique sound on the album and in “Saints Go Get ‘Em” is reminiscent of Mardi Gras Indians and brass instruments to make something uniquely New Orleans. By combining these cultural elements with the Crescent City’s pride for the Saints, Cha Wa has established an anthem that the whole city can get behind.

“Saints Go Get ‘Em” is a catchy, upbeat song filled with brass, drums, chants and tamborine. There’s some “Who Dat” mixed in to make a song that is spirited and fun.

The song can be downloaded for free from Soundcloud, and is coming to Spotify and other streaming services soon.

Cha Wa performs around the country and is next scheduled to play in New Orleans at NOLA On Tap, the festival that raises money for the Louisiana SPCA, on September 22 at 1 p.m. at City Park.

Fans can expect to hear and join in Cha Wa’s new song at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
