Deutsches Haus will host Volksfest on April 30 and May 1.

Deutsches Haus to host live music during Jazz Fest season

Deutsches Haus invites New Orleans friends to bike, hike or Lyft (no parking will be available during Jazz Fest) to their German venue to enjoy a beer and a brat and listen to a few tunes. Unique performers like Tom McDermott and the Baroque Trio will make different appearances at the Deutsches Haus, making for a few nights of diverse music including Ragtime, Jazz, New Orleans R&B and more.

The New Orleans man behind the incredible piano bars, Tom McDermott, will take the stage at Deutsches Haus on Saturday, April 27 and on Sunday, May 5 both from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. With 17 albums as a leader and 85 original songs, McDermott is an experienced performer and brings an electric energy through his New Orleans-inspired sound. His newest release, Tom McDermott Meets Scott Joplin, dives deep into ragtime vibes and expands beyond any musical line that has been set in place.

On Wednesday, May 8, The Baroque Trio will begin performing at 7:00 p.m at the Deutsches Haus. The group of three men, Kurt Munstedt, Thomas Thoreau, and Ben Fox, will focus on their German Baroque music performed on period-specific instruments. Using the baroque violin, viola da Gamba, and lute, the trio will enhance a live performance and indulge the audience in a special sound by using instruments usually not seen on a stage.

The venue offers many more nights of film, lectures, wine and cheese tasting, different festivals, German language classes, and coming later next month, their annual trivia night. For more details, visit here. Deutsches Haus is located at 1700 Moss St.

Lyft has partnered with Deutsches Haus to offer Jazz Fest attendees a convenient pick up and drop off location during both weekends of Jazz Fest. Festival attendees can show Deutsches Haus employees their Lyft receipt to receive the $5 discount towards a beer and a bratwurst.
