Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers release new album, ‘Bon Ton’

Arguably America’s most exciting accordionist, Dwayne Dopsie and his Zydeco Hellraisers just released a new album via Louisiana Red Hot Records.

The new album from Dopsie (who graced OffBeat‘s April 2019 cover) is called Bon Ton and features his signature high-energy zydeco sound. As a member of one of the country’s most significant zydeco families, Dopsie carries on tradition while pioneering the genre in a fresh direction.

Hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana, Dopsie penned original tracks for Bon Ton, including “Andree Jones” and “Such a Good Man.”

“Bon Ton lives up to its title, which promises a good time. The always-energetic Dwayne Dopsie delivers the goods with his stunning, one-of-a-kind, modernly intricate accordion workouts, while also remembering zydeco’s blues roots, and the genre’s downhome, party attitude,” wrote Geraldine Wyckoff in her review of the album. On the album, Dopsie shows off his fluency in Creole French and there’s no shortage of the world’s greatest rubboard player (yeah, we said it), Paul Lafleur.
