New Orleans will host Folk Alliance International's 32nd conference, in 2020

Folk Alliance International extends deadline for showcase applications

Because of Tropical Storm Barry (which may become Hurricane Barry), which is expected to drench the Gulf Coast with rain and severe weather, Folk Alliance International (FAI)  has extended the application deadline for official showcases from July 15 to July 22.

As “the world’s largest gathering of the folk music industry and community,” the FAI conference is an international music event featuring artist showcases, industry panels, mentoring sessions, networking events, a global summit series, artist in residence program, awards show and more. Next January, New Orleans will the be the host city for Folk Alliance International’s 32nd conference.

A statement from FAI reads, “The deadline for Official Showcase applications for the 2020 FAI Conference in New Orleans has been extended until Monday, July 22, 2019, for those in the Gulf Coast area who are affected by the tropical storm. Because of the large number of applications we anticipate to receive, our jurors will start going through applications after Monday, July 15, as scheduled. If you are not affected by the storms, you are still required to submit your application by this Monday, July 15 at 5pm CT.”
