Freret Street is Eat Street
this Saturday

Freret Street will be food-truck heaven this Saturday as its Eat Street concert series continues. This Saturday, Little Maker and Kristin Diable will perform, with food for sale from various food trucks and street vendors, including trucks from Lola’s and La Cocinita.

Micah McKee and Little Maker

Micah McKee and Little Maker

Little Maker is the solo project of Micah McKee, a veteran of local indie bands like Empress Hotel and Silent Cinema. His new band, which combines rock and folk with a dash of horns, is a pop band in the best sense, with hooks that soothe rather than annoy. Lately a regular at Jazz Fest, the statuesque Kristin Diable is a Baton Rouge native who made a name on the New York singer-songwriter circuit before returning to this area and forming her band the City.

Co-presented by a fledgling Mardi Gras krewe, the Eat Street concert series also aims to gain new members for the Krewe of Freret, which was established by seven Loyola graduates in 2011 to provide a Mardi Gras krewe that one can be an active member of without requiring a second salary to fund, as well as to foster neighborhood industry and further cultivate the growing Freret corridor.
