George Clinton, Dead Feat Announce Jazz Fest Afer Shows

NolaFunk has unveiled the lineup for its 5th annual series of Jazz Fest after shows, and the list includes some pretty exciting names.

George ClintonDead Feat–an act that dives into the Grateful Dead and Little Feat repertoires–will return this year for a pair of shows at the Howlin’ Wolf on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24. The band will feature Anders Osborne, Paul Barrere and Fred Tacket of Little Feat, Jackie Greene, Brady Blade, Carl Dufrene and special guests, with John Gros on keys for the Saturday show. Unlike past incarnations of the band, the group will not be joined by Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzman.

Over at the Republic, George Clinton & the Parliament Funkadelic will take the stage on Sunday, April 24. The following weekend, Los Lobos and Tab Benoit will team up on Friday, April 29, while Big Freedia (with a live band) and Soul Rebels will co-headline on Saturday, April 30.

Grateful Dead fans will get another treat when the series closes out with Voodoo Dead II at the Republic on Sunday, May 1. The band will include Steve Kimock, Jackie Greene, Jeff Chimenti, George Porter Jr. and John Michael Kimock, plus special guests. Unfortunately, Bill Kreutzmann will also not be playing drums as he did for last year’s Voodoo Dead shows.

Pre-sale tickets for the Jazz Fest series will be available to NolaFunk email subscribers. They will then go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, February 10 at 11am CT.
