Good Foot Ball to celebrate funk with Nigel Hall Band, DJ Soul Sister

The Krewe of King James: Super Bad Sex Machine Strollers will bring their third annual Good Foot Ball to the Peoples Health New Orleans Jazz Market this Friday, April 7.  Nigel Hall Band and DJ Soul Sister are slated to perform at the party.

The Krewe of King James: Super Bad Sex Machine Strollers was co-founded by DJ Soul Sister and Funk Baby in 2014 after Soul Sister served as Queen of Krewe delusion. The marching krewe has rolled with Krewe delusion ever since.

“The party was started because every krewe needs a party,” says co-captain Pamela Blackmon of Funk Baby. “After the first year that we marched we knew that we wanted to do something, so with Nigel Hall being our king the second year we decided to have the first annual Good Foot Ball.”

Launched in 2015, the first two editions of the Good Foot Ball sold out Gasa Gasa, and last year’s party featured a surprise appearance by acclaimed jazz artist Robert Glasper. Nevertheless, the ball has been moved to Central City for 2017.

“This is our first year at the Jazz Market,” Blackmon says. “We’re excited about that because a lot of people in that part of time rarely get to see Soul Sister at Hi Ho Lounge. We get to bring the downtown to uptown.”

“But the party is just so people know who we are,” she adds. “They know who James Brown is, but they may or may not have seen us march in the parade. The party is an extension of the parade. It’s a feel good dance party. You’ll get to see Nigel Hall do what he does and Soul Sister do we she does, which is bring the funk and make everybody dance.”

If attendees enjoy themselves at the Good Foot Ball, they will have the opportunity to become a part of the krewe. Those at the party will be able to learn about membership and even sign up for next year.

The Good Foot Ball will kick off at 10pm. Tickets are on sale now.
