Gulf Aid Moves Indoors, Times Changed

[UPDATED] Gulf Aid, the benefit concert for fishermen, the wetlands, and those adversely affected by the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, is on despite the morning rain storm. The indoor stage  scheduled to present Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Ani DiFranco, Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Mos Def and Terence Blanchard, the Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars and Allen Toussaint is unaffected the rain and starts at 3:30. The outdoor stage has moved inside as well, and the shows scheduled for it will take place in Mardi Gras World River City’s float den. The food vendors have also been moved under cover. Gulf Aid’s start time has backed up, though. Doors now open at 2 p.m.

With the chance of rain hovering around 50 percent for the rest of the day, parking is an issue. Parking in the lots along Convention Center Boulevard is $10, discounted from the usual $20. A jewelry show is going on in the Convention Center, so parking regulations will be enforced.
