“King Creole,” which starred a 23 year old Elvis Presley, was set and filmed throughout the French Quarter and on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain.

Following the screening, Photographer Richard Sexton will lead a walk through of his exhibit, “Creole World: Photographs of New Orleans and the Latin Caribbean Sphere,” currently on display at The Historic New Orleans Collection.

The event is part of The Historic New Orleans Collection’s, “From Cameo to Close-up: Louisiana in Film,” which will feature six other film screenings stretching into November.

The screenings celebrate the vital role that Louisiana has played in film history and will feature historical photographs, press books, film posters and other historical archives spanning from the age of silent films to the 1990s.
