Here’s a few Independence Day celebrations coming to the New Orleans area

The Go 4th on the River Dueling Barges Fireworks Show will return to New Orleans on Tuesday, July 4, where it will be visible from both east and west banks of the Mississippi River.

Much like previous years, the 27th annual edition of the event will feature hundreds of shells fired rapidly in a sweeping motion and choreographed to patriotic music. All colors of the rainbow will be on display, but red, white and blue will take center stage during the grand finale. The fireworks are set to go off at 9pm.

“Having identical displays from two barges blocks away from each other makes this annual display so special,” says J & M Displays Gulf Coast Director David Spear. “Technology takes over as pairs of colorful fireworks shells are launched skyward to deliver entertaining three-dimensional floral designs that provide incredible visual stimuli along with a loud report of sound that reverberates between the skyscrapers of downtown New Orleans.”

The event will also coincide with a free festival in Crescent Park, which will include sets from Category 6, Revival and more in the lead up to the fireworks display.

Go 4th on the River is the largest Independence Day celebration in the New Orleans area, but it isn’t the only one. Mandeville will host it’s Light Up the Lake fireworks show along the lakefront at 3pm on Saturday, July 1, and its annual Independence Day parade is set for 2pm on Tuesday, July 4. St. Bernard Salutes America will take over the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette on Tuesday, July 4, and will culminate in a fireworks display at 9:15pm. The City of Covington will also host its Sparks in the Park fireworks display from 7pm to 9pm on Friday, June 30.

Additionally, Metairie’s Uncle Sam Jam will bring Christian Serpas & Ghost Town, Ryan Boudreaux, Mixed Nuts, Marc Broussard and The Drifters to Lafreniere Park on Monday, July 3, with a firework show wrapping things up at 9:30pm. Finally, New Orleans City Park will host Happy 3rd of July on Monday, which will feature a performance by the Marine Corp Band and fireworks that will be launched from atop the park’s peristyle.
