Jai Ho! Dance Party Celebrates Bollywood In New Orleans

On Friday, September 15, Howlin’ Wolf will host a unique event aimed at celebrating Bollywood. Not only an evening of dance and music, Jai Ho! will also feature other cultural customs of the Indian tradition, including henna tattoos and regionally inspired cocktails.

Organized by Bollywood Dreams Entertainment, this Friday’s party marks the inaugural of its kind in New Orleans. Jai Ho! Dance Party was established in 2010 by like-minded individuals driven by their passion for fostering inclusive dance communities and united in their love for Bollywood music. This quintessential Portland phenomenon expanded to Seattle in 2011, L.A. in 2012 and, as of 2016, became the only ethnic dance party to occur monthly in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and San Diego. In the last seven years, at 222 shows, Jai Ho! has featured over 80 artists from across the U.S. and India.

According to event organizers, it’s not just your regular ol’ dance party but rather “it’s like being in a Bollywood Musical where spontaneously people begin to bust into synchronized dance moves.”

Doors for the September 15 event open at 9p.m. It’s an 18+ affair and tickets are available here for $10. It all goes down in the Den at Howlin’ Wolf, 907 South Peters St.
