This has been a difficult week in music, with the deaths of Bobby Charles, Teddy Pendergrass, jazz drummer Ed Thigpen, reggae producer Yabba You and Memphis garage rocker Jay Reatard. The Memphis Chapter of the Recording Academy issued the following statement about Reatard’s funeral:

Jay was part of our musical family and we will miss him greatly. Jay Reatard Funeral: Saturday January 16. Memorial Park Funeral Home 5668 Poplar Memphis, TN 5pm. Goner Records is requesting photos of Jay to show during the funeral. 300-500k size is best. Email to [email protected].”
