Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Add Third Jazz Fest Show

Grateful Dead tribute acts have become an increasingly popular phenomenon during Jazz Fest season, with what seems like more and more jam band fans flocking to the city every spring.

The band scheduled two shows at the same venue for 2017 too, but high demand has inspired them to add a third night to the mix. Joe Russo’s Almost Dead features drummer Joe Russo, guitarists Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton, keyboardist Marco Benevento, and bassist Dave Dreiwitz.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will now play the Joy Theater on Sunday, May 7, in addition to their already-sold-out gigs on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6. The group features drummer Joe Russo, guitarists Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton, keyboardist Marco Benevento, and bassist Dave Dreiwitz.

Tickets for their third Jazz Fest show will go on sale Thursday, December 22 at 11am.

In related news, Grateful Dead cover band Dark Star Orchestra will also play two nights at the Joy Theater during Jazz Fest. Dead Feat—which isn’t really a tribute act because it features two members of Little Feat—will play the music of the Grateful Dead and Little Feat at Howlin’ Wolf as well.
