Lady Rollers and Big Nine Second Lines Roll Saturday and Sunday: Routes and Maps

This weekend features two second lines, with the Lady Rollers parade scheduled for Saturday, December 17 to avoid conflicting with Christmas next Sunday. The Big Nine parade is in the regular Sunday second line slot, marching through the Upper and Lower Ninth Ward.

Uptown, the Lady Rollers Social Aid & Pleasure Club’s 16th-annual parade starts at noon Saturday at Tipitina’s. It goes down Tchoupitoulas, turning on Peniston, Magazine, Aline, and Antonine steets before heading up Louisiana towards Freret. After taking General Taylor to Claiborne, it then turns on Louisiana to head all the way back down to Tchoupitoulas, where it goes back uptown before disbanding at Tipitina’s.

Stops are at the Rock Bottom Lounge, Reese’s Snoballs, the Mayfair Lounge, Sandpiper Lounge, Silky’s, Big Man’s Lounge, Le Roux Reception Hall, and the Keep-N-It Real Social Aid & Pleasure Club. The Partyline Steppers, Camel Toe Lady Steppers, and Pussyfooters join the Lady Rollers as guests in the second line. The One Mind Band leads the parade.

On Sunday, the second line moves downtown for the Big Nine Social Aid & Pleasure Club’s parade with the Lower Nine Steppers.

The second line starts at the Hi-Ho Lounge at noon, heading down St. Claude and crossing the Industrial Canal into the Lower Ninth Ward before making a quick loop towards the river on Forstall, Burgundy, and Andry streets. It then continues moving down St. Claude until turning up Tupelo to Claiborne, where it turns around, goes back to St. Claude, and marches back uptown, where the parade disbands at Mickey B’s Bar at St. Claude and Lizardi.

Stops are at the Spellcaster Lodge, Avenue Sports Barbershop, Mercedes Place, Magnolia Discount, and the House of Dance and Feathers.

The second line is dedicated to “our loved ones who are gone but not forgotten”.
