Lil Wayne Announces Inaugural Lil Weezyana Fest

Lil Wayne has announced his first ever music festival in his hometown of New Orleans at Champions Square on the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

The five-time gold album-selling rapper says he plans to make Lil Weezyana Fest an annual event, as well as donate a portion of the proceeds back to the city.

For the festival he will be reuniting three quarters of his late 90s supergroup the Hot Boys, which includes rappers Juvenile and Turk. The fourth member, B.G., was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2012.

Legendary producer Mannie Fresh will also be appearing alongside the Hot Boys, and a host of other prominent artists will be added to the musical lineup, according to Lil Wayne.

“I’m coming home to give my city a real show for all its support, and I’m bringing some of my good friends in the industry,” Lil Wayne said in a radio interview on Tuesday.

Despite a few collaborations in the mid-to-late 2000s, this will be the Hot Boys’ most substantive reunion since their breakup in 2001.

Lil Wayne, born and raised in New Orleans and signed to Cash Money Records when he was only nine years old, is still at the top of his game in 2015.

If anything, a seven-month jail stint, recent visits to the hospital brought on by epileptic fits(a condition he’s had since childhood), and ongoing feuds with former mentor and CEO of Cash Money Records Birdman–all of which have further postponed his enormously anticipated album Tha Carter V–have only served to strengthen his fanbase.

Tickets presales for Lil Weezyana Fest are available on ticketmaster.com, and more details on the festival and musical lineup will be released soon.
