Local Artists to Play Benefit for Leigh “Little Queenie” Harris

A talented assortment of New Orleans artists will perform at Snug Harbor this Thursday, May 26 for a benefit concert in support of renowned New Orleans vocalist Leigh “Little Queenie” Harris. Billed as Gawd Save The Queen, the show–led by Debbie Davis–will feature appearances by Vicki Peterson, Susan Cowsill, Darcy Malone, Spencer Bohren, Josh Paxton, Jimmy Robinson, Matt Perrine and many more.

photo1The singer–best known as the leader of late 70s/early 80s rock outfit Little Queenie and The Percolators–has been undergoing aggressive treatment for Stage IV cancer. The intensely painful treatment includes a specialized surgical operation on her brain, along with radiation and chemo-therapies.

Aside from her medical expenses, Harris is also short on funds to pay her household bills, which have accumulated lately since she is unable to work while receiving treatment. The proceeds from this Thursday’s show will go toward offsetting some of those expenses.

Gawd Save The Queen will take place in two installments this Thursday, with the first show scheduled for 8pm and the second scheduled for 10pm. Tickets for the shows are currently available online.

Fans that are unable to attend the events, but would still like to donate, can contribute via a Go Fund Me campaign.
