Loyola To Launch Jazz Series With Tribute to Coltrane

Loyola University New Orleans will be presenting their annual tribute to saxophonist John Coltrane on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Loyola Presents: Coltrane Legacy will be performed by an all-star group of New Orleans artists led by Astral Project saxophonist and Loyola Professor of Jazz Studies Tony Dagradi. This powerhouse band will also  feature saxophonists Khari Allen Lee and Roderick Paulin, pianist Victor “Red” Atkins, drummer Herlin Riley and bassist James Singleton.

The concert will help launch this year’s Jazz Underground series for Loyola. Future shows include “New Orleans Divas: Germaine Bazzle & Leah Chase” on October 18th and “Monk’s Dream – Loyola Jazz Faculty” on November 9th.

The tribute is set to start at 7:30 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium, Third Floor, Monroe Hall, Loyola University New Orleans, 6363 St. Charles Ave. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $13 for seniors, $5 with student ID, and free for Loyola students, faculty, and staff.  Tickets can be found online at cmfa.loyno.edu/loyola-presents/music, by emailing [email protected], or by calling the Loyola Box Office at (504) 865-2074.
