Members of Widespread Panic, The Meters to Play Jazz Fest After Show

Foundation of Funk, a new project that finds Zigaboo Modeliste and George Porter Jr. teaming up with a rotating cast of musicians, will headline a Jazz Fest after show at the Republic in New Orleans on Thursday, May 4.

Their partners in crime this time around? Gutiarist Jimmy Herring and keyboardist JoJo Hermann of Widespread Panic.

Widespread Panic fans are no strangers to the Jazz Fest scene, seeing as the band has performed at the festival proper a whopping nine times (though Herring took over the lead guitar slot in 2006). The Georgia jam band’s last set at the Fair Grounds came in 2015, when the headlined the Acura Stage on Thursday.

Foundation of Funk’s Jazz Fest show will follow a Mardi Gras gig at Tipitina’s with Anders Osborne and Jon Cleary. That show is slated for Friday, February 24, just a few hours after Krewe d’Etat, the Krewe of Morpheus and the Krewe of Hermes roll along the nearby Uptown parade route.

Tickets for Foundation of Funk with Jimmy Herring and JoJo Hermann will go on sale to the general public this Friday, January 13 at 11am. Fans can get a code for pre-sale tickets by signing up for the Nolafunk email list (those tickets will go on sale Wednesday, January 11 at 11am).
