Mind Of Art Festival To Merge Budding Local Visual And Musical Forms

mind of artAt 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, Mind Of Art will bring its showcase of local artists, creatives and talents to the city for its eighth edition since its inception last year.

Rickie Williams (aka LaRixkieGod) was inspired to create the festival after observing the city’s lack of platforms and outlets for local artists to promote their material. As an artist and curator coming up in New Orleans, LaRixkieGod experienced these difficulties firsthand, and he quickly understood that he was not the only creative in this position. Thus, he curated his first Mind Of Art show in 2017, and it has grown into one of the city’s most accessible platforms for artists and creatives of any field. The event has even teamed up with Elmer’s Chee Wees and earned a sponsorship for all of Mind Of Art’s future events.

For LaRixkieGod, Mind of Art is more than simply a showcase; it is the opportunity that all budding artists look for when they first start off.

“Mind Of Art is church for the creators, a place where the creative mind can exist,” LaRixkieGod said. “Creatives networking in a party environment building awareness for their brands, through all the things we may have in common we all create art no matter the genre.”

For this edition of Mind Of Art, LaRixckieGod has enlisted many of the city’s up-and-coming musicians for performances, including rappers Paasky, Alfred Banks among many others. As well, tunes will be served by DJ Slim G3M, DJ ExMoe and DJ Legatron Prime.

Over 30 vendors will display their products at Mind Of Art, ranging from food to clothing to cosmetics. Some of these vendors include Froot Orleans, The Posh Exchange, Vodu Doll, Czar Cosmetics and many more.

Visual artist Ceaux will be the highlighted artist of the evening. Additionally, Tee Picasso, Chowsama and Kelmopolitan and others will be among the visual artists slated to display their works at the event.

This edition of Mind Of Art will be located at 2121 Port Street, and admission is $5 at the door.
