Show Postponed:
Mumford & Sons Concert
[Re-scheduled for 9/16]

CONCERT RE-SCHEDULE DATE: Monday, September 16 at Mardi Gras World

All previously purchased tickets honored at gate.

PLEASE SEE CONCERT UPDATE BELOW.

British superstars Mumford and Sons, along with opening acts Mystery Jets and Michael Kiwanuka, will bring their seemingly ubiquitous brand of stomp-happy folk rock to Mardi Gras World on Thursday, June 13. Their last New Orleans performance was at Jazz Fest in 2011, where they led a packed Gentilly Stage crowd in sing-alongs from their smash hit debut, Sigh No More.

Mumford & Sons at Mardi Gras Work on June 13

On their current “Summer Stampede Tour,” Mumford and Sons travel behind Babel, which won the 2013 Grammy Award for Album of the Year and features the hits “I Will Wait” and “Lover of the Light.”  Led by the yowling baritone of its namesake Marcus Mumford, Mumford and Sons is arguably the most successful band to come out of the recent roots/folk revival that includes bands like the Avett Brothers and Fleet Foxes. Their dramatic music is heavy on crescendos and swelling harmonies, and this sold-out show is sure to be a barnburner. Mardi Gras World, which is no stranger to huge concerts, is an ideal venue with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River and plenty of space for the Mumford faithful.

Attendees should arrive early though, to catch the two opening acts, Mystery Jets and Michael Kiwanuka. Mystery Jets is a band of psych-poppers who have been around half a decade but, strangely, haven’t quite blown up yet. Hopefully their opening slot for the Mumfords will earn them more of the recognition they deserve. Kiwanuka, on the other hand, is a rising star whose folk-meets-soul sound is reminiscent of Bill Withers and Richie Havens. And while Home Again, his 2012 debut, is clearly the work of a soulful brother, it’s also full of the folk tropes that have made the Mumfords so successful.

This is a general admission event, and is sold-out, so be sure to get there early. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Fans are highly encouraged to retain their tickets to the event pending rescheduled show date information. All tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date. Refunds for the postponed performance if required will be available at point of purchase. Please read the message from the band:

“Dear All,

Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and today he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment. This morning, scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery. Sadly we have to postpone three upcoming headline shows planned for this week in Dallas on Tuesday 6/11, Woodlands on Wednesday 6/12, and New Orleans on Thursday 6/13. All dates will be rescheduled and will be announced as soon as we can; all tickets for this week’s events will be honoured at their rescheduled dates. We have no plans to cancel or postpone any other appearances along this current tour.

We’re all wishing Ted a speedy recovery.

Much love,
Mumford & Sons”
