Musicians’ Clinic to host weekly events for mental health

Last month, the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and its You Got This program hosted a special event focused on mental health in conjunction with the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Now, the organization has announced an event series with a similar focus, but expanded to run through the Fall.

“Tuesday Taco Suppers” will focus on mental health and community for musicians, artists and creatives. According to NOMC’s Co-Founding Director Bethany Bultman, “Tuesday Taco suppers are about social connection. We strive to create a compassionate, inclusive environment for our creative community to connect with one another– which can make a huge difference to an artist suffering from depression.”

Each Tuesday between September 11 and December 18, Buffa’s will host the series. Live performances from local musicians, ear acupuncture, a taco bar and more will be made available for a $5 cover charge. Tuesday Taco Suppers run from 5-7:30 p.m. For more information, visit the NOMC website or the event page on Facebook.

Beginning September 14 at Buffa’s, there will be Friday night screenings of Sean Penn’s new television series “The First,” which was partially filmed at the bar and lounge.
