My Morning Jacket Plays Midnight Preserves

My Morning Jacket’s Jim James appears on two tracks on Preservation, the recent album by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. After his experience with the Hall band, My Morning Jacket took the band on tour with it. James’ love affair with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will continue when he performs with it Sunday, April 25 at Jazz Fest (with Terence Blanchard as well), and at Preservation Hall Saturday, April 24 when the two bands perform together. The $100-per-ticket show benefiting the Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program is the highlight of this year’s Midnight Preserves concert series at Preservation Hall.

Young traditionalists Luke Winslow-King and Loose Marbles kick off the series Friday, April 23, followed the next night by the Hall band with My Morning Jacket. The next weekend, the Treme Brass Band plays on April 30, and long-time musical friends John Boutte and Paul Sanchez will play together Saturday, May 1.

Tickets are on sale now from TicketWeb.com; all shows start at 11:30 p.m.
