N.O.B.A.B.E. to headline Women Performing for Women benefit show

On Friday, September 27th, Café Istanbul will host Women Performing for Women, a benefit for the women and children of Hagar’s House. This will be the ninth annual celebration of the event. There will be five performers, including the headliner N.O.B.A.B.E.

Hagar’s House is a sanctuary for women and children whose ultimate goal is to transition its residents into sustainable housing. The organization provides help in resource coordination, holistic health education, food and an empowering residential community. Hagar’s House does not take government funding so that it can support families of all identities.

The night’s lineup will have N.O.B.A.B.E., Assata Renay, Mid City Soul, The Pussyfooters and Debbie with a D. N.O.B.A.B.E. stands for The New Orleans Bad Ass Bitch Experience. The group is an all women 13-piece project with rhythm and horn sections. Assata Renay, from the Lower 9th Ward, was an American Idol contestant. The Pussyfooters is a parade marching club that has made appearances at Southern Decadence. Debbie with a D is a local drag queen.
