WWOZ Nominated By National Association Of Broadcasters

Earlier this year, WWOZ was the recipient of the Louisiana Association of Broadcaster’s Prestige Award in the category of Station of the Year-Major Radio Market. Now, the local radio station and national treasure has another distinct honor to add to its list of accolades: a National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Marconi Radio Award nomination.

NAB announced the full list of nominees for its awards celebrating radio stations and on-air personalities for excellence in broadcasting. WWOZ is joined by fellow nominees KHJK-FM of Rocklin, CA; WEEM-FM of Pendleton, IN; WPSC-FM of Wayne, NJ; and WUFT-FM of Gainesville, FL in the category of Non-Commercial Station of the Year.

According to a press release, “The radio stations that will be honored have been selected by the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy. The academy is made up of general managers, program directors, regional executives, owners, programming consultants and former radio executives from across the country.”

The NAB Marconi Awards are named after the “Father of Wireless Technology,” Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi. Winners will be announced at a September 27 ceremony at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show, sponsored by Xperi and held during the 2018 Radio Show in Orlando.
