This one goes out to all of the hustlers out there. On Saturday, October 20 Supreme Street presents the NOLA Underground Hip-Hop Awards. Much like New Orleans’ burgeoning underground hip-hop scene, the awards show, now in its third year, has been on the rise, moving from the Howlin’ Wolf in 2010 to the House of Blues last year to the Joy Theater this year. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased on Ticketmaster or at the door on Saturday.
Legendary No Limit Records producer KLC of Beats by the Pound will be honored at the NOLA Underground Hip-Hop Awards this Saturday.
Over the course of the evening, hosts Shiny Green and Lanino Brown will dish out 23 individual awards, as well as three lifetime achievement awards: New Orleans born twin sister tandem the Ghetto Twiinz, whose hard-hitting cuts helped to legitimize the female voice of southern rap, Beats by the Bound producer KLC, whose tracks powered No Limits Records to the top of the charts, and Q93 radio personality Uptown Angela, who’s long since kept the beat on the street bouncing, will receive the show’s special honors.
